Falcon Rock was making his British debut after having two outings on much softer ground in France last year. He stayed on nicely after being set a fair amount to do and will benefit greatly for a return to further. He also now has the option of handicaps.

Falcon Rock, in a handicap for the first time having raced in France last season and shown form on soft conditions, had to come from the rear and didn´t see a great deal of daylight up the straight without ever really being stopped, but caused interference with. He was never going to get to the winner but gave the impression at least another furlong would help. |

No jockey rides this twisting track better than Richard Hughes who produced a fine performance on FALCON ROCK who he was riding for the first time. The lightly raced ex-French horse had not looked straightforward on his last two outings and was possibly unlucky on the latest. Hughes dropped him out then made a race winning move when switching him sharply from the outer to get the rail inside the two furlong marker. He took plenty of persuasion to go past the leader but was well on top close home. He is suited by this distance and might stay a bit further.

Falcon Rock was a well-supported favourite on the back of his win here over nearly 2f shorter a week ago when he recieved an inspired ride. He was travelling best two out but he does take some persuading and this extra trip may have been a problem. There is absolutely no reflection on his young rider but he almost certainly needs stronger handling.

Falcon Rock, just beaten when favourite over further at Windsor last time, having been successful over this trip at the same track before that, was up another 3lb here. Well backed beforehand, he was switched off out the back early but took a while to respond when first put under pressure. He did stay on up the hill, having been switched to his right, but was never quite getting there and doesn´t look an easy horse to get the timing right with.
